March in a nutshell
March was a very eventful month for me. After many months of working through some blocks, I figured that I want to pursue fine art and illustration more rigorously over the last month. One of the first things I did this month was to make a vision board for myself. Some of the highlights on the vision board were these dreams I’ve held onto for so long. I’ve invested so much effort in pulling myself away from things that make me curious, that when I saw I’m moving away from what I really love doing, I was determined to get back to it. March was all about nourishing my inner child and getting ready to bloom. A few things I decided to move towards this month -
a fresh way of illustrating and painting that resonates more spiritually with me. Making more, fearing less.
moving every day, even if it’s just for 20 minutes. Walking to me is the best way to get closer to divine clarity and I’ve been forcing myself out of the door no matter how cold it feels.
Thinking about my work in collections and roping you in to see what I’m actually up to. I’m not officially working on my spring collection, of fine art + patterns + prints that will launch here end of April. I have 3 weeks to go! I’m excited to share more about this in my next blog.
Make it happen
The biggest dreams on my vision board are being a fulltime exhibiting artist, painting my first few collections, launching a shop on here! Declaring things always works out for me, because guys, and i cant stress on this enough, but intention is everything.
For International Women’s day, I was invited by Herschel to showcase my work as they launched Arty Guavas’s edition of the Nova Art Project. To be exhibiting in Herschel’s art store in Vancouver was a truly exciting opportunity for me, and I jumped at the honor. It was such an exciting night, I made so many new friends and really felt part of the creative community here in Van. I had a ball showcasing alongside amazing female makers Justine Crawford, Maya River and the formidable Lay Hoon AKA ArtyGuava, who made it all happen. Here are some photos of the night, ah I’m still buzzing!
I also moved homes in March, and for the first few weeks, we were drowning in a sea of boxes. It’s actually unfathomable how fast you accumulate shit. But there’s nothing that’s bringing me more joy right now than building a home with my partner. I’m a full-time interior stylist at this point, a career I would actually consider leaping into at some point. Cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom and I’m excited because this is my first time seeing them! I’ve also started taking photographs more seriously with the long-time desire to pursue photography as a part-time hustle eventually. I’ve invested in Tim Coulson’s Photography course and will continue sharing my discoveries in my blogs here.
Overall, I fostered positivity in me that I haven’t felt in a while. Things seem possible and that’s hopegiving. Leaving March behind, folding it up, and leaping into April. Thank you for sticking around and listening to me talk about my month. I really enjoyed writing this letter to you, hope you enjoyed reading it!
See you in no time x
